🚨 CMMC 2025 Update: New DoD Rule Now in Effect

On September 10, 2025, the Department of Defense (DoD) released the long-awaited CMMC Clause Rule, formally activating the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program for all DoD contractors and subcontractors.

Beginning November 10, 2025, DoD contracts that involve handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) or Federal Contract Information (FCI) may include mandatory CMMC requirements, including potential third-party cybersecurity assessments.

What This Means for DoD Contractors

DoD contracting officers now have broad discretion to insert CMMC requirements into new contracts, options, renewals, or modifications with little or no advance notice.

If your organization is not prepared, you risk:

Losing bid opportunities

Being disqualified from award

Inability to submit accurate self-assessments

Compliance violations under DFARS cybersecurity clauses

Now is the time to confirm which CMMC Level (Level 1 or Level 2) your environment will require.

Recommended Actions for Contractors

✔ Review current and upcoming contracts and solicitations to determine your likely CMMC requirements.
✔ Prepare for CMMC Level 1 or Level 2 self-assessments, ensuring your organization can truthfully attest to compliance.
✔ Identify gaps early, many organizations require months of policy development, system hardening, logging, and documentation work.
✔ Engage your compliance team or a Registered Provider Organization (RPO) to ensure your infrastructure, processes, and evidence align with DoD expectations.

Why Acting Now Matters

With CMMC requirements now eligible for inclusion in contracts starting November 10, 2025, organizations may have very limited notice before cybersecurity obligations become a condition of award.

Being unprepared may result in:

Missed contract opportunities

Failed assessments

SPRS score inaccuracies

Compliance findings under DFARS 252.204-7012, 7019, 7020

CyberWRIX stands ready to guide contractors through gap assessments, remediation, documentation, SPRS scoring, and full CMMC readiness support.
